It plays important roles in various cellular activities, such as promoting the transport of sugars and amino acids, enhancing anabolism while reducing catabolism, stimulating cell growth, etc. Insulin is a common additive in serum-free mammalian cell culture media. Recombinant human insulin is a polypeptide consisting of 51 amino acid residues produced by recombinant technology. It is almost insoluble in water and ethanol but readily soluble in dilute hydrochloric acid and dilute sodium hydroxide solutions.

Instructions for Use:

The concentration of insulin in serum-free media is generally between 5~20 mg/L. The most suitable concentration should be selected based on the specific cell line.

Recombinant human insulin is supplied as a powder and should be stored frozen below -18°C. Before use, dissolve it typically in hydrochloric acid solution (10 mM) to prepare a stock solution containing 1~2 mg of insulin per 1 ml. After sterile filtration, the filtrate can be aliquoted and stored at -20°C for up to 6 months. Repeated freezing and thawing should be avoided.
